Senior Meal Delivery Services During A Crisis

While seniors living alone are often able to shop for groceries and cook their own meals, there are many who rely on meals provided at community centers and adult day care centers. The Coronavirus quickly halted their normal routine, leaving seniors and their family members scrambling to find food options. Meal delivery has become a great alternative. Cooked meals delivered weekly, following strict dietary restrictions. Meals on Wheels is a popular service, however, due to the pandemic, limited drivers has made home delivery even more difficult. Other options for fully cooked meals are Mom's Meals, Homestyle Direct, Fresh n' Lean, to name a few. Meal kits are a great option for a more independent senior used to cooking their own meals; HelloFresh, Blue Apron, are the most popular companies. No one could have predicted the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our way of life, especially for seniors and more vulnerable individuals. Worrying about food should not be on the top of one's mind; these services take some of the weight off family members' shoulders.
